Updated Feb. 22, 2022:
Dear TCMBHA members,
The Tri City Minor Ball Hockey Association is a volunteer run association that has as its’ purpose to bring the thrill of the sport of ball hockey to youth in the cities of Port Moody, Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam.
The TCMBHA Executive are very excited to be bringing ball hockey back to our rinks where kids are practicing and playing games with families and friends able to watch. We know the value of this experience and the positive impact that all of our players, families, coaches and referees have had on the sport of ball hockey and on the greater community within the Tri Cities. These successes do not come by themselves, but rather they result from the combined effort of everyone involved as we all have a very important part to play.
We have had numerous parents, with little or no coaching experience, step up to coach, take on new responsibility and excel in developing a positive experience for the players on their teams. Many a parent-coach has been pleasantly surprised at how much enjoyment they had being actively involved in their child’s team. We have had many players try a new sport and realize that they love it and through this experience they have developed some great friendships that have grown outside of ball hockey and will be with them for years to come. It really is so much more than players on a rink; it has become a family all working together for the benefit of the players. That is the beauty of the TCMBHA; we are all in it together and we are very strong united and working together.
Part of this success is the ability of each parent, coach, player, referee and spectator to have the guiding principles of the TCMBHA Mission Statement and Core Values which are expected of everyone who is part of the association. These key pieces help to guide us and are as follows:
Our Mission Statement:
The TCMBHA youth program is designed for the enjoyment of the game and equal opportunity for all participants regardless of skill level. We promote the development of sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork, while fostering fun for all.
Our Core Values - STAR:
SPORTSMANSHIP: encourage fair play and promote a positive influence for all players, coaches and parents.
TEAMWORK: encourage players and coaches to work in a cohesive and fun manner, while developing skills.
ACCOUNTABILITY: encourage all to be responsible for their actions and language both on and off the floor.
RESPECT: encourage everybody to treat others in a positive manner, while being aware of how others may perceive their actions.
There will be exciting games, some life lessons, some challenges, some triumphs and many memorable positive experiences that you will be able to look back on. Support each other, enjoy the sport, and when you have the time to step up as a volunteer, please do so. We can only continue to be successful by relying on the support of volunteers.
On behalf of the Executive, have a great season and we look forward to seeing all of you at the arenas!
